DEFEDER is the company specialized in the development of 100% ecological and eco-viable products for agriculture and animal feed, from organic raw materials, which are discarded on a regular basis and gives them a second chance, a second life.

DEFEDER SAMAGRO is a company based in Alveringem (Belgium) specialized in organic fertilizers production from animal manure, in the form of pellets, composts and liquid products. Registered in 1986, SAMAGRO continuously developed to achieve a yearly production in 2024 of 100 000 tonnes serving global markets from Europe to Asia.

POSTE / MISSIONS

The General Manager will lead the dynamic operations of DEFEDER SAMAGRO, driving commercial growth and spearheading strategic procurement to ensure sustained excellence.

Mission I – Commercial Development & Market Optimization

Lead and grow SAMAGRO’s commercial strategy, particularly in the Netherlands, France, and Central Europe.
Maintain and strengthen strategic relationships with customers and partners, especially in premium export markets.
Ensure pricing strategies are market-aligned and margin-driven.
Identify and develop new business opportunities and regional market expansions.
Supervise existing sales team members, including transition of responsibilities from current roles.

Mission II – Supply Chain & Farmer Relations Management

Take ownership of strategic purchasing/supply functions, particularly managing farmer contracts and raw material sourcing.
Ensure continuity and reliability of supply through strong partnerships with suppliers and transport teams.
Oversee SAMAGRO Trans (in-house transport division with 10 trucks), coordinating logistics with internal and external partners.
Align procurement with production planning and commercial goals.

Mission III – Site Leadership & Organizational Transformation

Act as the operational head of the Belgian business, supervising the Plant Manager and administrative staff.
Support the cultural and organizational shift from a small family company to an international affiliate with structured reporting, procedures, and KPIs.
Report to Defeder Group management, with responsibility over P&L, budgets, and operational performance.
Drive execution of ongoing factory investment to scale up production and prepare for portfolio diversification.
Hold power of attorney for day-to-day decisions, with potential involvement strategic discussions.

LE PROFIL

This job is for you if

You have a background in Agricultural engineering, Agri-business management or Industrial engineering with agricultural experience
You demonstrate strategic management skills and hold a MBA or BBA as strong plus
You speak Dutch, French & English, with Spanish a plus
You have at least 10 years of experience managing operations in small to medium scale agricultural or agro-industrial companies
